Snip20180308_59As most of you know, my family and I are appointees with SEND International and missionaries to Spain. This is an extension of the ministry of our home sending church, First Central Bible Church in Chicopee, MA. We are proud to partner with them, along with many individuals who, even now, are giving faithfully of their time, prayers, and finances in order to help us get to Spain full-time. In just a few weeks the Gilbert family will make our first two-week trip to Spain to meet the SEND teams already there and to get the lay of the land.

But Why Spain? Aren’t there churches there already? The short answer is that most who claim to be Christian there are typically Christian in name only, and lack any real knowledge of, or relationship with Jesus Christ. One of the missionaries there whom I speak with on occasion says of Spain,

“Every Catholic we know here would say, ‘I’m Catholic, but not practicing.’ They have nothing to do with the church, except for all the traditions,” said Giles Davis, SEND Spain Area Director. “There’s a sense that Christianity had its chance in Spain, but it failed miserably and brought death and pain. The last thing they’re looking for is Jesus.”

That is heartbreaking. That is why Spain. Spaniards need the Gospel. Spaniards need Jesus, not just religion. Our family wants to be part of those who meet that need by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ in Spain.  We need your help to get there. God works through the generosity of his people, so we are asking his people to prayerfully consider coming alongside us in partnership to make disciples in Spain for Jesus Christ.

Below is a screenshot of a trifold brochure I made that gives a little insight into Spain and the need there. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will be glad to meet with you in person or by phone/video chat. You can Download the PDF of the brochure by clicking here.
