Struggling With Sin? Make War!

11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. [1Pe 2:11 ESV]

Are you struggling with sin? Are you constantly saying “Why am I this way?” Does it feel like someone is attacking you? THAT’S BECAUSE SOMEONE IS ATTACKING YOU! Satan rages and battles to bring down the children of GOD–those who, by faith, belong to Christ– and you are literally at war. So make war. Fight the good fight, take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and go on the offensive. We are called to live lives of holiness and it is by GOD’s power that we fight it. Do not be passive, do not just be defensive. Go on the attack. Call the sin in your life sin, in agreement with GOD, and pray against it. Be pleased and satisfied with the one true GOD as your joy. Do not settle for lesser things.

4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? [1Jo 5:4-5 ESV]

  1. I was reading today about keeping Joy as we face struggles, and don’t let the struggles and attacks we face take away our joy. I think that’s how I’ll fight, I’ll make sure that I let His joy fill me each and every day and carry it with me and not lose my joy/hope/faith in the midst of struggles!

  2. The chief end of man is to know GOD and enjoy him forever. We were made for his purpose, his will, his glory, his delight. Zephaniah 3:17 says that he exults over us with singing! If that does not bring joy and hope to you I don’t know what will. Joy is part of our battle because it is part of our worship, and worship is how we connect to the living GOD who is able to keep us from stumbling. Thanks for your comment.
